spokesperson Michael Jordan to provide a "long-range assist" in

access to New York's Central Park in return for donations to the
park system.  Modell Sporting Goods is preparing backboards with
ad slogans to be installed in June in school yards jointly
operated by the Parks department, and the Pro Beach Volleyball
tour will appear in Central Park in return for a $35,000
contribution, covering production costs and paying for an amateur

group of movie execs spent time speculating about a Dennis Rodman
movie career (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 5/19)....Philip Morris stock was
up 4 to 95 1/2 Friday.  The company says it is pleased with
President Clinton's response to its proposal to curb young
smokers ("NBR," PBS, 5/17)....The Easton Co. is profiled in the
L.A. DAILY NEWS.  Gregory Wilcox notes in addition to aluminum
bats, Easton makes bows and arrows, clothing, baseball and
softball gloves, ski poles, bike frames, tent poles, hockey
sticks and golf shafts (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 5/20)....PepsiCo is said
to be in "advanced" talks with Warner Bros. for promotional ties
to "Batman" in the wake of McDonald's pending alliance with
Disney (AD AGE ONLINE, 5/20)....Sports Authority stock was down 2
1/4 to 31 1/8 after reports the company was "very cautious" about
"tougher competition" over the next few months ("NBR," PBS,
5/17).
