Retail sales of merchandise bearing the names and logos of
teams in Minor League Baseball have surpassed the $46M mark in
'95, and have totalled more than $145M over the last three years,
according to Misann Ellmaker, Dir of Licensing for Professional
Baseball Promotion Corp. The group is a subsidiary of NAPBL, the
governing body for the Minor Leagues. Since NAPBL began an
agency agreement partnership with MLBP in '91, the sale of
licensed merchandise of Minor League teams has exceeded $170M
(NAPBL). Sales were at $60M in '94 and $40M in '93 (Michael
Hiestand, USA TODAY, 5/7).
