REDS MAY HEAD TO LAS VEGAS IN FOUR-TEAM CRAP SCHOTT

Amid the hoopla over Marge Schott's views on Hitler, "one
area news item has slipped quietly past," according to a TAMPA
TRIBUNE editorial -- a possible Reds spring training move from
Plant City, FL to Las Vegas. The team's lease at the 6,700-seat
Park Road facility expires next year and Reds officials have
admitted to speaking with Las Vegas, which needs four teams for
its site. The value of "seeing the same four teams play each
other for six weeks is debatable," the TRIBUNE writes, but
Schott, whose frugality is well- documented, "will listen to
anybody with cash." By invoking Las Vegas, the Reds have created
leverage with Plant City, which is losing money on the stadium
and needs the rights to attract other events like truck pulls and
concerts when the Reds aren't using it (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 5/9).
