WEDNESDAY WEB SITES OF THE WEEK: SHOWCASING THE MASTERS

     The Masters begins Thursday at Augusta National and, while
the first two rounds can been seen on the USA Network,
enthusiasts can browse the World Wide Web to follow the chase for
the Green Jacket.  CBS Sports, which provides TV action of the
third and final rounds, is boosting additional coverage of at
www.cbs.com/sports/golf/masters.  Included are player bios; news
and notes; and Masters history.  From there, one can link to
GolfWeb at www.golfweb.com, which provides round-by-round reports
and pre-match interviews in Real Audio with Greg Norman and other
PGA Tour stars.  There will also be reader polls and a daily
dairy by Brian Henninger, who led for three rounds last year.
GolfWeb's Masters coverage is sponsored by Tommy Armour.  The
Augusta Chronicle and Sports Illustrated have joined to produce
Masters96 at http://masters96.com.  They offer "do's and don't's"
for fans traveling to Augusta, along with a souvenir pro shop and
chat area which kicked off last night with SI golf writer Amy
Nutt.  Two other sites:  iGOLF at www.igolf.com/index.html offers
extensive Masters coverage sponsored by Taylor Made.  Features
include teaching pro David Leadbetter's chat; live talk with Gary
McCord (the closest he gets to Augusta), and daily on-site
features by iGOLF writers.  Fresh off a deal of last week,
writers from Golf World and Golf Digest will file daily stories
from Augusta to NBC Sports' Golf.Com site at www.golf.com.
Additional features include NBC golf analyst Johnny Miller's live
chat on Friday and a constant "dynamic leaderboard," offering up-
to-the-minute scores (THE DAILY).
