GIANTS BALLPARK: POST ELECTION NEWS FROM SAN FRANCISCO

     Mark Gardiner, who "crafted the financial plan" for the
Giants' China Basin ballpark says of their election victory: "The
hardest part is over.  The rest is a cakewalk."  The S.F.
EXAMINER's Eric Brazil writes that Gardiner also said lenders are
now "banging down our door" and that they are accepting financing
proposals (S.F. EXAMINER, 3/28).  In Arizona, Giants Manager
Dusty Baker said, "I'm glad the way it passed.  That means people
are excited about baseball, especially in the Bay Area and that's
where I'd like to stay" ("Baseball Tonight," ESPN, 3/27).  The
Sierra Club, the League of Conservation Voters, the Rincon-South
Beach Advisory Committee and other groups have indicated they
will pay "close attention" to the project as it moves through the
regulatory process.  S.F. Planning Director Dean Macris:  "We're
well aware that we may be subject to lawsuits" (Eric Brazil, S.F.
EXAMINER, 3/27).
