SPORTSCHANNEL PUSHES TWO ISLANDER GAMES TO PAY- PER-VIEW

SportsChannel New York announced yesterday that it would
televise two Islanders games via pay-per-view due to scheduling
conflicts. Steve Zipay reports in this morning's NEWSDAY that
the telecasts are a result of scheduling conflicts on April 8 and
April 10. Subscribers who already pay a premium for the channel
will not be subject to pay-per-view charges of $5.95 a game.
Zipay reports, "The Islanders aren't overjoyed." Islanders
spokesperson Pat Calabria: "They have the right to do it
contractually. Of course we would prefer that our games be on as
usual, but we do understand their dilemma" (NEWSDAY, 3/27).
