LIPTON USES SPORTS PERSONALITIES IN "BREW CREW" PROMO

The Pepsi-Lipton Tea Partnership announced yesterday that it
has re-launched the company's ready-to-drink iced tea, Lipton
Original, as "Lipton's Brew." For advertising efforts, Lipton
has recruited Bob Uecker, Bubba Smith and Dick Butkus for a 30-
second commercial titled, "Brew Crew." In addition to TV spots,
the "Crew" is scheduled to star in several upcoming national
radio spots. The ad was created by J. Walter Thompson, New York,
and will air Monday, March 25 on ESPN to coincide with "The
Lipton Tennis Championships." National re-launch efforts also
include new packaging graphics and three new flavors: Green Tea
with Passion Fruit, Wild Strawberry and Plum, and Brazilian
Cupuacu and Orange (Pepsi-Lipton). The relaunch comes as Quaker
Oats' "struggling" Snapple brand is preparing to launch a new ad
and marketing campaign next month (Oscar Suris, WALL STREET
JOURNAL, 3/22).
