JUST LIKE SITTIN' IN THE FRONT ROW

     In an attempt to "tap" into the world of luxury seating, the
Pirates are selling "Batter's Box" season tickets for newly
installed field seats 45 feet from home plate, according to the
PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE.  The open air, screened-in seats will
sell for $6,075 each per year and be located between the dugouts
They will come with waiter service, access to a private lounge
and parking.  Pirates VP/Marketing Steve Greenberg:  "The fan
will be sitting closer to home plate than the pitcher" (Cristina
Rouvalis, PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 3/20).  Pirates Owner Kevin
McClatchy also announced the club and concessionaire Aramark have
agreed not to increase food, beverage and novelty prices for the
'96 season.  A wider variety of selections will be available.  A
microbrewery inside the stadium is also possible (PITTSBURGH
POST-GAZETTE, 3/20).
