ACOG FIRES BACK AT DESIGN TEAM

ACOG officials responded angrily to a lawsuit filed by
Olympic Stadium designers Wednesday, according to this morning's
ATLANTA CONSTITUTION. ACOG alleges the suit, which seeks $4M in
unpaid overtime spent on "redrawing the constantly evolving
stadium," is retaliation for ACOG's demand the designers pay $3M
in repairs after a light tower collapsed and killed an
ironworker. Because the design team is required to carry
liability insurance under its Olympic contract, ACOG insists the
team "fully live up to its agreement." Susan Cahoon, attorney
for the design team, called ACOG's response "predictable,"
saying, "On more than one occasion, they have threatened to use
the stadium accident to their advantage by bringing into question
[the designers'] reputation if we tried to collect the reasonable
compensation" (Michelle Hiskey, ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 3/15).
