CFL'S B.C. LIONS SOLD; NFL CALLED A "VARIABLE" TO DEAL

Bill Comrie sold the B.C. Lions to a group of local
investors headed by Nelson Skalbania, with current club President
Doug Bodie saying the possibility of an NFL expansion to
Vancouver "raised the stakes" of the deal. Dan Stinson reports
in this morning's VANCOUVER SUN that Bodie said the "possibility
of Vancouver going into the NFL is certainly a variable in the
equation" of the sale. Comrie owned the club for three-and-a-
half years. Skalbania, who owned the CFL Montreal Alouettes in
the '80s, said changes may be in order for the team, including a
name change from B.C. to Vancouver. Skalbania said he wants a
new logo, and perhaps a new nickname for the team. The selling
price is believed to be about C$2.75M (VANCOUVER SUN, 3/12).
