BRITAIN'S MOST POPULAR BRUNO HOPES BOUT WILL OPEN U.S. DOOR

ESPN's Charley Steiner profiled the marketing of Frank Bruno
as the British heavyweight champ prepares to take on Mike Tyson
this Saturday. Bruno, called the most popular athlete in
Britain, has cultivated his image. Steiner: "The marketing of
Frank Bruno is no accident. Bruno himself has crafted and honed
his image as not nearly a boxer, but rather as a family man and
an English gentleman and he sees this fight as another marketing
opportunity." Bruno: "It [America] is a nice market to break and
this is my ticket to get into it." British journalist Jonathan
Ruffle likened Bruno to a U.K.-Michael Jordan ("Sports Weekly,"
3/10).
