GOLF NOTES: EUROPEANS FLOAT IDEA OF SENIOR RYDER CUP

     ESPN's Karl Ravech reported the European PGA has proposed
the idea for a Senior Ryder Cup and that the U.S. is "very
interested" ("SportsCenter," 2/19).  European PGA Exec Dir Sandy
Jones, on plans to start the event by 2000:  "The initiative has
come from us, but they are quite interested and we will discuss
it further when we meet at the Masters in April (CHICAGO TRIBUNE,
2/20)....The FL Supreme Court has cleared the way for the
construction of World Golf Village, to be located south of
Jacksonville.  The project will include the World Golf Hall of
Fame and be home to PGA Tour Productions (PGA Tour).
