THE WASHINGTON "NONE-OF-THE-ABOVE'S?" POST CALLERS SAY YES

The Washington Post, a sponsor of the Bullets' contest to
change their name, conducted an unofficial call-in survey gauging
fan response to the five possible names. Christine Brennan
reports, "The winner is -- the Washington None-of-the-Aboves."
Out of more than 19,000 responses, more than 16,000 voted for
none of the names, or to keep the "Bullets." "Sea Dogs" finished
first out of the five options the club has presented the fans,
with 1,153. Team President Susan O'Malley down-played the
negative reaction: "It's 4 million people trying to name a baby.
I would never name my child Tiffany, but a lot of people would."
The team will announce Thursday which name it will use starting
in the '97-98 season (WASHINGTON POST, 2/19). Today, Tony
Kornheiser writes in his column: "At the moment, their name game
has made the Bullets look like a laughingstock." Kornheiser
calls for new choices (WASHINGTON POST, 2/20).
