BASEBALL TEAM NOTES: NO FREE LUNCH, BUT A FREE RIDE

The Padres will sell discounted tickets for Sunday games
during the season and include a free round-trip bus ride from
Tijuana in an effort to attract more fans from Mexico. The
program will be sponsored by Tecate Beer, and the new system will
allow buses to take a special lane at the border, with the trip
taking about an hour each way. Padres management said the new
program will alleviate three obstacles for Mexican fans attending
games: driving, border delays, and economic conditions in Mexico
(ESPNET, 2/13).
YES VOTE: MLB owners are expected to approve Kevin
McClatchy as the new owner of the Pirates today. At 33, he would
become MLB's youngest owner (USA TODAY, 2/13).
