SPURS EYE OPTING OUT OF DOME BUT NO THREAT TO LEAVE TOWN?

Spurs Chair Robert McDermott said the team's board is
looking at locating the team in a new, privately funded facility
between San Antonio and Austin, "drawing from a wider, more
affluent population base." He also said, "ideally, the money
would come from corporate or individual investors." The Spurs'
contract with the Alamodome gives them a "90-day out," but
McDermott said no move would be made during the season and that
he would seek a solution when the season ends (SAN ANTONIO
EXPRESS-NEWS, 2/11).
