DALEY BELITTLES MCDOME PLAN

     Speaking at a news conference, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley
continued to "ridicule" IL Gov. Jim Edgar's $415M "McDome" plan
for the Bears, questioning the proposal's financing package and
overall merits.  Daley:  "All we're talking about is talk. ...
Oh, I've dealt with him before.  We've all dealt with him before.
He can't deliver anything" (Kaas & Pearson, CHICAGO TRIBUNE,
2/11).  A TRIBUNE editorial criticizes Daley's "inexplicable
opposition to McDome," saying the mayor could have committed
"what may become one of the all-time gaffes of Chicago politics"
by not being more open-minded (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 2/11).
