OLYMPIC NOTES

     USA TODAY reports USA Wrestling officials were "on the
defensive" yesterday over their association with John du Pont in
the face of reports of his "bizarre behavior."  Du Pont is
charged with the murder of '84 gold medalist Dave Schultz (USA
TODAY, 1/31)....Munson Steed, President of B.G. Swing Games
Management, must produce by today a letter of credit proving he
can generate $2.5M in gross revenue for the city of Atlanta
through souvenir sales, sponsorship of public spaces and sidewalk
vending during the '96 Games -- or the deal "could die" (ATLANTA
CONSTITUTION, 1/31).... Faberge Co. is protesting Theo Faberge's
creation of 500 silver or crystal eggs for ACOG to sell at $5,000
apiece, there is little the company can do.  The Olympic
collection coincides with a tour of 75-year-old Carl Faberge's
original "bejeweled, enameled" eggs (WALL STREET JOURNAL,
1/31).... SLOOC officials are accepting bids for an insurance
broker to handle coverage needed for 2002 (DESERET NEWS,
1/28)....  The UT Senate will take up two Olympic spending bills
which differ on the latitude of the Utah Sports Authority's
ability to spend $59M in public funds on construction projects
for the 2002 Games (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 1/30).
