SUPER BOWL XXX, PART II: MEDIA NEWS & NOTES

     Steve Young was a guest on Saturday night's special edition
of ESPN's "The Sports Reporters."  Colts QB Jim Harbaugh appeared
on ESPN's Sunday morning "Sports Reporters" (ESPN, 1/27-28)....In
its "Behind the Scenes" special on Saturday, NBC profiled the
Microsoft/NBC/NFL Superbowl.com Web site ("Behind the Scenes,"
NBC, 1/27).  On Friday's "Sports View," CNBC's Bruce Francis
profiled Superbowl.com and other Super Bowl web sites, including
Fox's (CNBC, 1/26).  In San Francisco, C.W. Nevius writes
Superbowl.com analysts Randy Cross and Jeff Hostetler "tapped out
some pithy live observations" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 1/29)....David
Letterman, on Friday night:  "You're watching CBS.  Home of the
1978 Super Bowl."  Sparky Mortimer,  covering the game for
Letterman, was decked out in a Nike sweatsuit.  Mortimer met with
the Cowboy Cheerleaders and was the holder for Cowboys Kicker
Chris Boniol's field goal attempt.  Mortimer: "Just do it, Dave!"
(CBS, 1/27)....On the "Tonight Show," several Steelers players
carried Jay Leno onto the stage.  Other NFL players/related stars
appearing:  Bills' Jim Kelly; ESPN's Chris Berman; Steelers Kevin
Greene; Colts Jim Harbaugh; ESPN's Joe Thiesman; Ronnie Lott; and
Patriots Curtis Martin (NBC, 1/26)....ESPN analyst Sterling
Sharpe on his return to ESPN: "I'll be right here unless
something happens to come up a little bit better."  When Dan
Patrick noted that Sharpe had been talking to Jerry Jones a lot
during the week, Sharpe smiled and said, "You're right" (ESPN,
1/29).
