     MICHAEL JORDAN called the Las Vegas betting line that pitted
the number of points he would score yesterday vs. that of the
Cowboys "just another way for people to use Michael Jordan to
make a profit."  Jordan scored 31 against Phoenix, to the
Cowboys' 27 (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 1/29).  ESPN's KEITH OLBERMANN:
"Mike wouldn't want his reputation besmirched by gambling, would
he?" (ESPN, 1/29)....Jets QB BOOMER ESIASON was featured on the
cover of this weekend's USA WEEKEND for the "Most Caring Athlete
Awards."  Winners: JIM EISENREICH, ANDRE AGASSI, HAKEEM OLAJUWON,
and BETSY KING (USA WEEKEND, 1/26-28)....BILLIE JEAN KING was
ranked 97th on Author Deborah Felder's "100 Most Influential
Women of All Time" (WASHINGTON POST, 1/29)....AZ sports mogul
JERRY COLANGELO was profiled by on Saturday's "NBC Nightly News"
(NBC, 1/27)....ESPN's Al Bernstein reported GEORGE FOREMAN plans
a "barnstorming" tour with the hope of "calling out" MIKE TYSON
("SportsCenter," 1/26).
