STADIUM NOTES

     Two members of the Lake County, IN, board said late last
week they would veto any income tax designed to build a new
"Planet Park" complex including a new stadium for the Bears
(Munster TIMES, 1/27)....Lakers Owner Jerry Buss is "so desperate
to get out of the Great Western Forum and into an new arena" that
he is reportedly willing to let the Kings out of the final 23
years of their lease if the team "can come up with a new building
to share" (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 1/28). ....Atlanta city officials
"proclaimed victory" Friday in their fight to build a new arena
downtown.  The city and TBS struck a deal last week (ATLANTA
CONSTITUTION, 1/27).
