OTHER SUPER HAPPENINGS AS THE HYPE BEGINS TO THICKEN

     Steelers QB/WR Kordell Stewart talked up the possibility of
an "Air Slash" ad for a football/running/ basketball shoe named
for him (USA TODAY, 1/24)....Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones "who
continues to flaunt his marketing deals in the NFL's face," wore
a sterling silver Nike lapel pin on his sportcoat yesterday (N.Y.
DAILY NEWS, 1/24).... Although the estimated impact of the Super
Bowl on the AZ economy is $187M, Host Committee officials say
they did not take into account price gouging.  Officials are
concerned about room rates -- some as high as 360% above normal
(ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 1/24)....Sega Sports is predicting a 31-17
Cowboys victory after simulating the game on "Prime Time NFL
Football Starring Deion Sanders" (Sega)....ESPN's Chris Myers
interviewed Chiefs RB Marcus Allen on "Up Close."  Allen is one
of the hosts of the NFL Players Party, which runs Thursday
through Sunday.  Allen:  "It's a chance for the public to rub
shoulders with some of the players they see on television."
Allen said Sawyer Brown will entertain tomorrow night, with
MeatLoaf on Friday, Jay Leno and the  "Tonight Show" both nights,
and NFL players vs. women's pro beach volleyball stars ("Up
Close," ESPN, 1/23).
