STALLIONS OWNER TO TAGLIABUE: LET US JOIN THE NFL

     In a letter delivered yesterday to NFL Commissioner Paul
Tagliabue, CFL Stallions Owner Jim Speros said the Stallions are
the "best current prospective franchise" for Baltimore and asked
if the team could join the NFL. According to the Baltimore SUN.
Speros said he wants to position himself as the "fallback" for
the NFL if the Browns deal with Baltimore collapses.  There was
no comment from the NFL or the CFL (Jon Morgan, Baltimore SUN,
1/24).
