BUCS SAID TO BE WILLING TO LISTEN TO CITRUS BOWL PLAN

Chuck Rohe, Chair of the Central Florida NFL Committee, said
yesterday he has received indications the Bucs will listen to a
plan to play in a renovated Citrus Bowl in Orlando, according to
the TAMPA TRIBUNE. In previous dealings with Orlando, the Bucs
said a new stadium was a must for them to move to Central FL, but
Rohe said recent conversations with team officials indicate while
they would prefer a new stadium, a "first-class" renovation is
not out of the question. Rohe said he would meet with team
owners, the Glazer family, either this week or at the Super Bowl
this weekend. Meanwhile, FL Lt. Gov. Buddy MacKay said Tuesday
that keeping the Bucs in Tampa is a major economic concern for
the state. MacKay supports giving local officials the option of
imposing a restaurant or rental car tax to keep the team (Fay &
Bartlett, TAMPA TRIBUNE, 1/24).
