BREWERS ASK THE FEDS TO DISMISS SUIT BLOCKING STADIUM

1.24.1996

     Attorneys for the Brewers and local governments are asking
the U.S. District Court to delay ruling on a suit challenging the
constitutionality of a tax to support construction of a new
stadium until after the WI Supreme Court rules on the matter.
The Libertarian Party filed the suit in both state and federal
court charging that the legislation passed to help build the
stadium was unconstitutional.  The Brewers claim the suit is not
in the federal jurisdiction (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 1/24).
