SUPER BOWL XXX, PART II: WHAT'S UP IN AND AROUND PHOENIX

     Super Bowl merchandise stands "are popping up like mushrooms
after a prolonged rain" in the Phoenix area (Martin Van Der Werf,
ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 1/16)....ASU will not allow students to rent
out dormitory rooms or fraternity houses adjacent to Sun Devil
Stadium during Super Bowl week.  However, student groups are
making money from selling non-NFL merchandise (ARIZONA REPUBLIC,
1/16)....Fine Host catering manager David Casarez says, of the
approximately 5,000 personnel working the Super Bowl, most will
be fed with box lunches instead of a buffet like last year's game
in Miami.  Other culinary tidbits:  NFL owners in skyboxes will
be given NFL team logos made from salt dough (Judy Walker,
ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 1/17)....ASU has cancelled classes on January
25-26 to cut down on traffic in the area (ARIZONA REPUBLIC,
1/17).  Singer Glen Campbell will host the Super Bowl pre-game
show, which will include performances by the Doobie Brothers
(MIAMI HERALD, 1/16).
