Officials from the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce and Packers
Hall of Fame report a deluge of calls from fans inquiring about
ordering the cheesehead hats seen on many Packers fans' heads.
Doris Hajweski reports in this morning's MILWAUKEE JOURNAL
SENTINEL that Foamation Inc., the Milwaukee company that
manufactures the cheeseheads, has increased its staff from eight
to 12 and is running the production line 18 hours a day, six or
seven days a week. The hats sell for $18-$25, but only through
WI retail outlets (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 1/11). Meanwhile,
WI travel agents report an abundance of calls from fans looking
for Super Bowl packages (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 1/11).
NOT QUITE AS CRAZY IN INDY: Buildings around Indianapolis
are decked out in blue lights, and a non-profit agency is
offering placards demonstrating Colts pride, but signs of Colts
support "aren't as obvious" as support for the Pacers in Indiana
(INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 1/10).
BIG DEMAND IN BIG D: Yesterday's DALLAS MORNING NEWS
incorrectly reported that 5,000 NFC Championship tickets would be
available to AmEx Gold and Platinum cardholders. The number was
only a "few hundred." Meanwhile, ticket outlets throughout the
area sold remaining seats to Sunday's game quickly. AmEx will
give megaphones to the first 20,000 fans entering Texas Stadium
(DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 1/11).
