FOX SHOWS SLIGHT INCREASE IN FINAL NFL RATINGS

     Fox's NFC package finished with a 12.5 '95 regular-season
game average, a 3% increase from '94. Fox is the "only network
with a 1995 game average higher than 1994, when football didn't
face early-season competition from baseball." NBC's AFC coverage
finished down 11%, with an 11.1 regular-season average. Both
networks were off 3% from '93 ratings. For the pregame shows,
NBC finished down 16%, with Fox showing a 3% drop (Michael
Hiestand, USA TODAY, 1/2). ESPN finished with a 9.0 average for
its NFL games, down 14% from '94 but up 10% from '93. ABC's
"Monday Night Football" finished with a 17.0 rating, down 4% from
'94 but up 1% from '93 (Michael Hiestand, USA TODAY, 12/29).
TOP DRAW: Eight of the top 10 rated programs for '95 were
NFL telecasts. Only the Academy Awards and a Seinfeld special
were non-NFL programming (N.Y. TIMES, 1/1).
