FLORIDA MAY NOT BE THE ONLY ONES AMBUSHED IN TEMPE

MasterCard International is "ambushing rival Visa,"
purchasing two 30-second spots during NBC's Super Bowl XXX
telecasts. ADVERTISING AGE's Kate Fitzgerald reports the deal
gives MasterCard "near equal advertising time" with Visa, who as
the NFL's official credit card, "failed to lock product
exclusivity" on the broadcast. Visa reportedly did not expect
MasterCard to venture into football, as it had no "official
presence" (ELECTRONIC MEDIA, 1/1 issue).
SUPER BOWL AD NEWS: Master Lock will break a new campaign
during the Super Bowl with a 30-second spot featuring lyrics from
Stephen Stills' "For What It's Worth" over images of crime scenes
(AD AGE ONLINE, 1/1).
