WARRIORS' TEMPORARY COW PALACE DEAL OUT TO PASTURE

     A dispute between the Warriors and the Cow Palace over how
much the team should pay to use the facility on a temporary basis
has delayed plans for a new $100M Oakland home for the club.
According to the S.F. CHRONICLE, the Warriors offered the Cow
Palace $2.4M in rent, a $1M scoreboard, and $250,000 in
scoreboard ad revenues to lease the building for one year, but
the arena's board rejected the offer, instead demanding a $3.4M
rent payment.  Warriors attorney Robin Baggott said, "We're
hopeful we can make a deal with the Cow Palace, but at this time
it doesn't look promising" (Matier & Ross, S.F. CHRONICLE, 1/3).
