GIANTS AND JETS CONVINCED FANS WILL FLOCK TO EAST RUTHERFORD

Following the Giants, Jets, and NJ Sports & Exposition
Authority's announcement in October that they would construct
$37M worth of suites and club seats at Giants Stadium, already
more than half of the most expensive seats are licensed and
officials from both teams say "they don't expect to have trouble
selling the rest." All of the six "super suites" costing from
$350-400,000 are licensed, with 13 of the 26 tower suites spoken
for at $140,000 a year. The NJSEA won't release names of the new
suite licensees. The club seats, which will cost $7,500 per year
are being handled by a lottery. A Jets official predicts the
seats could bring each team an additional $3.5-4M a year (John
Sapers, CRAIN'S NEW YORK BUSINESS, 12/17 issue).
MO' MONEY: In eyeing other ways to generate revenue, the
Giants are offering pre- and post-game catered events for up to
1,000 fans and sponsors. The team also produces its preseason
games, three separate TV shows and handles all its publications
in-house. The Jets use a practice dome next to the stadium for
pregame events for corporate sponsors (John Sapers, CRAIN'S NEW
YORK, 12/17 issue).
