WILL WARNER'S SPORTS DIVISION HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO SURVIVE?

     Jeff Jensen profiles Warner Brothers' Sports Licensing group
in the current edition of ADVERTISING AGE, noting that "beyond T-
Shirts and trinkets, it remains to be seen if consumers will
clamor for Warner sports products."  Some of the Warner projects
currently underway include a deal with ACI International to
create a line of Warner Bros.-branded athletic footwear, possibly
for next fall.  Jensen notes, Warner's sports unit "could become
a magnet for athletes who view themselves primarily as
entertainers" -- and he adds that Disney, "eager to tap that same
spirit, is said to be mulling a similar division" (ADVERTISING
AGE, 12/18 issue).
