MEDIA BLACKOUT FOR NEXT ROUND OF MLB LABOR NEGOTIATIONS

     Lead negotiators for the players and owners in MLB's labor
negotiations have agreed upon a media blackout when the talks
resume in January, according to the DALLAS MORNING NEWS.  Rockies
Owner Jerry McMorris:  "There is a conscious effort not to
negotiate this one in the press" (Ken Daley, DALLAS MORNING NEWS,
12/18).  NEWSDAY's Jon Heyman reports the owners are "more split
than ever" as they head into new round of negotiations (NEWSDAY,
12/17).
