Colorado Springs could be "a compromise contender to become
the new headquarters site for the Big 12 Conference," according
to Mike Spence of the Colorado Springs GAZETTE TELEGRAPH. Dallas
and Kansas City rank as co-favorites, but some say Colorado
Spring remains a "legitimate contender" when conference
presidents select the site during a meeting Friday. The city's
bid reportedly consists of three years of free office space and
"use of Colorado Springs' many sports facilities," along with
plans to build an 8,000-seat arena (Colorado Springs GAZETTE
TELEGRAPH, 11/28).
