FIESTA IN TEMPE: NFL AND NBC TO PRODUCE SUPER BOWL SPECIALS

The NFL and NBC will join to produce "a pair of special pre
Super Bowl programs" this January, according to Terry Lefton of
BRANDWEEK. One will feature a grassroots youth sports
organization and the other "aims to pull viewers on-line
beginning in December to determine the late January show's
content." The first show on January 20 will use the Pop Warner
Little Scholars Program as way to push the NFL's "Play Football"
campaign. Sponsors could include NFL advertisers, with an
possible integration of deals at the grassroots level. The
second production will air on January 27, one day before Super
Bowl XXX. Viewers can "visit a specially created Super Bowl XXX
Web site and tell what they would like to see during the hour-
long show," jointly produced by NBC and the NFL (BRANDWEEK,
11/27). Sponsors will also receive signage on the Super Bowl XXX
site as well as the NFL's Web site (AD AGE ONLINE, 11/27).
