JETS CIRCLING OVER PHOENIX: TEAM MAY HAVE FOUND A HOME

     Jerry Colangelo, President of the Suns and Managing Partner
of MLB's expansion Diamondbacks, is involved in "serious
discussions" about bringing an NHL team to Phoenix -- with that
team most likely the Jets -- according to the ARIZONA REPUBLIC.
Asked whether he would have an ownership role, Colangelo said,
"It depends on if anything comes to fruition ... The fact of life
is that some teams are potentially on the move, and that's all I
can say" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 11/24).  In Minneapolis, Jay Weiner
reports Jets buyer Richard Burke would neither confirm nor deny
that Phoenix was the Jets' next "venue of choice."  Weiner notes
all activity is "geared" toward the NHL Board of Governors
meeting on December 14, as Burke has said he needs an agreement
"in hand" by that time for the Jets to play in a new location
(Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE, 11/23).
