MD POLS ATTRACTED TO SHINY NEW BROWNS, IGNORE FAMILIAR SKINS

MD Gov. Parris Glendening "might have a hard time wringing
money" from the Legislature to help Redskins Owner Jack Kent
Cooke pay for infrastructure around a proposed stadium in
Landover. The WASHINGTON TIMES reports Cooke's declaration this
week that Glendening will fund $73M in costs around the suburban
DC site have not been affirmed by the governor's office or Prince
George's County officials. Many legislators oppose additional
funding after pledging $200M to the Browns. Cooke would to pay
for construction of his 78,000-seat stadium (Janet Naylor,
WASHINGTON TIMES, 11/9). Meanwhile, Cooke told the WASHINGTON
POST the club will stay in the DC-area as long as he's around --
"and after he's gone as well" (Dave Sell, WASHINGTON POST, 11/9).
