Through noon yesterday, 28,515 applications for the Bucs'
Charter Seat Program had been processed, according to the ST.
PETERSBURG TIMES. The number is still "far" from the goal of
50,000, but the Stadium Task Force was happy by the "record-
setting financial commitment" thus far. Fans have already
committed $19.6M for future tickets and seat deposits, compared
with an estimated $9.6M paid this year by 32,000 Bucs season
ticket holders. Although the goal is 50,000, Task Force
Marketing Dir Pat Hill said, "If we get into the 40s it's going
to be very hard for the Glazers to walk away" (ST. PETERSBURG
TIMES, 11/9). Despite "hints" he was not taking the leadership
necessary with the Bucs, Tampa Mayor Dick Greco said yesterday he
"will do all that is within" his influence to keep the team
(TAMPA TRIBUNE, 11/9).
ORLANDO: The City of Orlando has ended financial backing of
the Orlando Area Sports Commission, stating they must contact the
city before opening negotiations with franchises considering
relocation (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 11/9).
