On Friday, Minneapolis City Council President Jackie
Cherryhomes convenes a special working group to begin looking for
additional revenue to make a Jets' move to the Target Center
viable. Suite sales, concessions, ad signage, PSLs, parking will
all be discussed (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 10/26)....When the
Flyers move to the CoreStates Arena in '96, Spectacor hopes to
find ways to use the adjacent Spectrum on dates the Flyers will
not be playing. Minor league hockey is one option. If Spectacor
attracts an AHL team, the Flyers could end their association with
the Hershey Bears. But ECHL and IHL teams are also possible, as
are indoor soccer and Arena Football (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER,
10/26)....Lonnie Glieberman said he will move the CFL Shreveport
Pirates to Norfolk, VA next season if he can sell enough season
tickets. The team would play at Old Dominion Univ. for '96
(WASHINGTON POST, 10/26)....L.A. TIMES columnist Allan Malamud
writes, "before the end of the century the Oakland A's probably
will move to Sacramento" (L.A. TIMES, 10/26)....The Celtics
played their first exhibition game at the FleetCenter last night
with 17,631 in paid attendance. Capacity is around 18,400, and
there were many no-shows. It was the Celtics' first non-sellout
in 661 games (BOSTON HERALD, 10/26)....The Marlins announced
their ticket prices for the '96 season yesterday. All ticket
prices will remain the same with the exception of Founders Club
seating which will go from $30 to $32 (Marlins).
