REDSKINS OWNER COOKE SEEMS TO BE HAPPY WITH TURN OF EVENTS

Redskins Owner Jack Kent Cooke yesterday "reaped praise" on
MD. Gov. Parris Glendening, who has offered $50M in state funds
for road improvements, and to Prince George's County Council
Chair Anne MacKinnon for her work in getting the stadium talks
back on track. Cooke said the two "made no bones about [their
support], and that relieved my worries considerably" (John
Mercurio, WASHINGTON TIMES, 10/26). Business columnist Rudolph
Pyatt writes, "The parties say the breakdown in stadium talks
stem from sharp differences between Cooke and county officials
over infrastructure costs. That notwithstanding, the biggest
stumbling block appears to be a clash of egos" (WASHINGTON POST,
10/26). On local news, Cooke said Glendening told him "We're
going to get this thing done. We want you badly over here.
We're willing to do anything within reason to have the Redskins
build their stadium over here and have the Redskins come here and
enjoy a thirty-year term, minimum" (WJLA, 10/25).
