MEDIA NOTES

     ESPN, Canal Fox and Turner Entertainment Networks have
joined nine other int'l networks to form "TAP Latin America,"
which will try to standardize media and market research and
disseminate information about the pan-Latin American market.  The
group will launch a PR campaign later this month that includes
print ads in AD AGE and ADWEEK and will offer a guide
highlighting the market's growth (GOULD MEDIA)....Australis, the
Australian pay-TV operator and holder of one of two commercially
available satellite broadcasting licenses, is to merge with
Foxtel, the cable-based pay-TV consortium.  Foxtel's two partners
are News Corp. and Telstra (FINANCIAL TIMES, 10/19)....ABC
Sports, which owns the rights to televise Big 12 football games
beginning in '96, has asked the conference to move the Kansas
State-Texas A&M game from October 19 to August 31 next year,
allowing the network to kick off its first year of Big 12
coverage.  Kansas State is balking at the request (FT. WORTH
STAR-TELEGRAM, 10/19)....Prime Sports Radio added to people to
its production staff, Annie Zidarevich and Michael Stefanelli.
Zidarevich comes from WAFN in Detroit and Stefanelli has been a
radio correspondent for ESPN, ABC, KLIF in Dallas and the USA
Radio Network (Prime Sports).... Indian starter Orel Hershiser,
on his knowledge of the Braves: "I haven't really scouted Atlanta
that much because the games were on at the same time and there
was regional coverage" ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 10/18).
