IS DEION'S DEAL HEADED TO COURT?

     Cowboys VP Stephen Jones told USA TODAY he believes the
dispute over Deion Sanders' seven-year deal with Cowboys will be
settled by U.S. District Judge David Doty in Minneapolis.  NFLPA
Counsel Richard Berthelsen also believes the matter will end up
in court.  Berthelsen: "If the contract is permitted in the
agreement, it can't be circumvented.  I think they've got a loser
here."  USA TODAY's Gordon Forbes writes, "Thanks to the
loopholes, the Cowboys will win -- in or out of court" (USA
TODAY, 10/18).  NFLPA Exec Dir Gene Upshaw meets with Cowboy
players today (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 10/18).  In Dallas, Cowboys
Owner Jerry Jones' "controversy" with NFL Properties is featured
extensively by Richard Alm (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 10/17).
