IS DEION'S DEAL HEADED TO COURT?

Cowboys VP Stephen Jones told USA TODAY he believes the
dispute over Deion Sanders' seven-year deal with Cowboys will be
settled by U.S. District Judge David Doty in Minneapolis. NFLPA
Counsel Richard Berthelsen also believes the matter will end up
in court. Berthelsen: "If the contract is permitted in the
agreement, it can't be circumvented. I think they've got a loser
here." USA TODAY's Gordon Forbes writes, "Thanks to the
loopholes, the Cowboys will win -- in or out of court" (USA
TODAY, 10/18). NFLPA Exec Dir Gene Upshaw meets with Cowboy
players today (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 10/18). In Dallas, Cowboys
Owner Jerry Jones' "controversy" with NFL Properties is featured
extensively by Richard Alm (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 10/17).
