A SKYSCRAPER IN THE MEADOWLANDS; RENOVATION FIT FOR GIANTS

The renovation at Giants Stadium announced yesterday
"eventually will generate at least $12 million in annual revenue
to be split three ways among" the Jets, Giants and the NJ Sports
and Exposition Authority, according to Thomas Fitzgerald of the
Bergen RECORD. The "unprecedented partnership" of the teams and
state agency will spend $37M to "modernize the stadium and
squeeze more money from it." Plans call for 26 new luxury suites
"above the upper tier on towers" on the south side of the stadium
and 794 club seats with an adjoining 12,000 square-foot clubhouse
on the mezzanine level. Although prices have yet to be set on
six "super suites" where the press box currently sits, NJSEA
President Robert Mulcahy estimated they would cost $300-400,000 a
year. A new press box will be built on top of the facility.
Building will begin next month to be completed by the start of
the '97 season (Bergen RECORD, 10/18).
