MILLION MAN MARCH TO INCLUDE FEW ATHLETES?

NFL players "seemed ambivalent, for the most part, about
participating" in today's Million Man March in Washington, a
demonstration of black unity organized by the Nation of Islam.
The Broncos and Raiders will go on with tonight's Monday night
game, although march organizers have asked players to make a
gesture before the game. Bronco Shannon Sharpe: "I have no
problem with the gestures if it's not going to cost me any
money." Many NFL teams cited policies, which require a death or
illness in the family to get out of practice. Redskins coach
Norv Turner was open to adjusting schedules, but added, "No one's
talked to me about it" (AP/PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 10/15).
