KING TRIAL GETS TECHNICAL ON DAY TWO

ESPN's Jimmy Roberts, outside the federal courthouse in New
York, where boxing promoter Don King's wire fraud trial entered
its second day: "In the trial of such a colorful and bombastic
man, Day Two was a tedious, sleep-inducing examination of
insurance contract details and minutia." ESPN legal analyst Ken
Caruso: "There were no fireworks in court today. But, each side
made some subtle and important points" ("SportsCenter," 10/11).
Prosecutors "tried to show [King] got the idea for the fraud
scheme he is charged with after he ran into trouble collecting
insurance for an earlier fight" (N.Y. TIMES, 10/12). NEWSDAY's
Greg Logan: "Somehow, all the jurors managed to stay awake as
both sides started down the paper trail" (NEWSDAY, 10/12).
