LEAGUE SPONSORSHIP NEWS: HOCKEY PLAYERS SHOW THEIR SKILLS

     NHL fans will have an opportunity to see their favorite NHL
players compete and demonstrate their talents in the Topps NHL
SuperSkills Competition presented by Starter.  The events, a
joint venture between the NHL and the NHLPA, run from October 9
to January 7.  The competition is "a family, fun event that is
scheduled during no-game days."  Ticket prices will vary across
NHL cities from $3-10 and many tickets will be donated to youth
hockey organizations.  This year marks the first season of Topps'
title sponsorship of the skill program.  Additional sponsors
include Starter, a presenting sponsor, and Mennen.  The NHL,
league teams and the NHLPA will plan activities to support
SuperSkills locally and in-arena, including fan festivals, retail
and media promotions and ticket giveaways (NHLPA).
     NBA OVERSEAS:  The '95 NBA McDonald's challenge in London
will be seen in more than 120 countries worldwide.  McDonald's
will run radio promos, offering merchandise and tickets.  Nike's
involvement in the event will be featured in the "reuse-a-shoe"
basketball court opening in London, with the Rockets' Robert
Horry and Kenny Smith giving a Nike Basketball Clinic.  Other
event sponsors include Foot Locker (the official retailer of the
McDonald's Championships), Miller Brewing, Sports Specialties,
Spalding, and Champion (McDonald's Championship).
     NFL'S CANADA DAY:  The Bills have designated this Sunday's
game against the Jets as "Canada Day '95."  Among the events
include salutes to Canada during the game, and Canadian companies
sponsoring the game -- including the Hudson Bay Company, Labatt
Breweries of Canada, and NFL Properties- Canada.  Approximately
10,000-15,000 Canadian fans regularly attend Bills games in
Buffalo (NFL).
