FSU JOINS THE CLUB, SIGNS $6M DEAL WITH NIKE

     FSU announced yesterday it has reached a five-year, $6M deal
with Nike to provide the school with its athletic attire,
according to this morning's FT. LAUDERDALE SUN-SENTINEL.  The
deal gives Nike another top collegiate team which will
prominently display their logo on jerseys.  Nike "agreed to make
a $100,000 cash gift to the university's capital campaign and a
$750,000 gift to be used for minority and women's programs and a
degree completion program for former student-athletes."  Nike
will pay $225,000 annually as part of football coach Bobby
Bowden's contract.  FSU basketball coach Pat Kennedy will receive
$150,000, and baseball coach Mike Martin $15,000 from Nike as
part of the agreement (AP/FT. LAUDERDALE SUN SENTINEL, 9/29).
