OLYMPIC NOTES: IOC LOOKS TO EXPAND MEMBERSHIP

     The IOC has issued a "mandate" to put more women in policy
making positions.  The IOC, which currently has seven females
among its 106 members and one woman on the 11-member executive
board, will "immediately" seek at least four new female members
(ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 9/27)....The Kroger Co. is negotiating to
build a store just a few blocks from Atlanta's Centennial Olympic
Park (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 9/28)....Christopher Smith notes in
the SALT LAKE TRIBUNE: "2002 Winter Olympic organizers say that
while the world is welcome here, people better have tickets to
the Games.  If not, stay home" (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 9/28)....ACOG
has informed the IOC executive board they will be short of their
$200M income target, and will depend more on ticket revenues to
meet their budget (KYODO NEWS, 9/26)....USA TODAY's Karen Allen,
on the results of the ticket lottery:  "Olympic ticket buyers
found out this week what millions of gamblers already know --
lotteries can be cruel" (USA TODAY, 9/27).
