Prince Golf Group has pushed back its timetable for
introducing a golf club line, according to Group VP Chuck
Stickelmaier. Stickelmaier is working on a timetable for
development and marketing, but equipment manufacturing is "a ways
off." He also said that Prince won't market its clubs to mass
merchants, "but will push a premium line" (GOLF SHOP OPERATIONS,
9/95 issue)....Rasheed Wallace, who signed with the Bullets
yesterday, hopes to announce a shoe deal within the next 10 days.
Wallace's agent, IMG's Bill Strickland, said they have had
discussions with Reebok, Nike and Adidas (THE DAILY).....The Joe
Dumars Fieldhouse outside Detroit is drawing 5,000-7,000 visitors
each week to its basketball, volleyball and inline hockey
facilities (DETROIT NEWS, 9/28)....Texaco will join the list of
companies tying in with the Dream Team as they will feature a
basketball giveaway around the squad (USA TODAY, 9/28).....The
Mariners and Boeing have given the Seattle Parks Department
$75,000 as the recipient of the '95 Boeing Junior Mariners
Athletic Field Grant (Mariners)....The NFL, the Bears, Champion
and Carson Pirire Scott will join in October to help commemorate
the 25th anniversary of the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund.
Radio and print ads, an 800 number and a retail promotion will
help generate contributions for the non- profit organization
(NFL)....The Cowboys' Emmitt Smith on his "Emmitt Zone" clothing
line, which debuts Sunday: "It's more than just clothing. It's a
state of mind. I want to get kids down a road they never even
thought of. ... It's going to be a fashion statement" (WASHINGTON
POST, 9/28).... Peter McNeeley's new-found marketability is
examined by Michael Sokolove of the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER. In
selecting McNeeley and his manager Vinnie Vecchione, Pizza Hut
VP/Public Relations Rob Doughty said they were "looking for
