OLD LEADERSHIP TO BECOME NEW LEADERSHIP AT MSG NETWORK

Joe Cohen, most recently co-owner of the L.A. Kings and the
founder and first President of MSG Network, will be named to head
MSG's "expanded TV empire," according to today's N.Y. POST. Phil
Mushnick notes that Cohen will arrive at a time when MSG parent,
ITT/Cablevision, is joining with Dow Jones to buy NYC's Channel
31 as a first step in creating a national presence (N.Y. POST,
9/22).
FIRST THINGS FIRST: Both the POST and the N.Y. TIMES note
that MSG Network is embroiled in a labor dispute with Local 1212
of the IBEW over management's new work rules. A strike by
technicians, which would likely be supported by Local 3
(electricians), could close the Garden for the Rangers' home
opener October 7, according to Mushnick. However, a Garden
spokesperson said any interruption is a "longshot, at best" (N.Y.
POST, 9/22).
